Blockchain gaming and the metaverse are regularly in the news. The fact that Facebook changed the name of the parent company to ‘Meta’ was a catalyst. Meta and Mark Zuckerberg have now made it their mission to help build the metaverse. Several new technologies or designs have already been proposed in this metaverse. It will be an interactive environment where AR (Augmented Reality) and VR (Virtual Reality) will merge. Axie Infinity has sparked a real craze for blockchain gaming in 2021. One of the games with the highest expectations is Star Atlas. In any case, the visual effects of this game are almost otherworldly!
In this blog I am going to take you into the world of Star Atlas and the ATLAS token and POLIS token. I’m going to explain to you exactly what Star Atlas is and how it works. I’m also going to go behind the scenes with the team on this project and take a closer look at the ATLAS and POLIS course. Furthermore, I will also tell you where to buy the ATLAS token and the POLIS token.
Please note: please note that the text below about ‘Star Atlas (ATLAS)(POLIS)’ as well as the explanation thereof should in no way be construed as advice. The choice for whether and in what way you want to trade (crypto) and which choices you make in terms of investment is up to you and you alone. We are not financial advisors.
Here you can first watch a very nice visual video that lifts a corner of the veil about Star Atlas. Instead of the teaser trailer, I’ll give you the longer version of just under two minutes. Enjoy this great visual experience for almost a minute longer. I can hardly wait to see this game live when there are also such visuals involved.

What is Star Atlas?
Star Atlas is an open world and strategic MMORPG game (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) where you will explore outer space. It all takes place in a galactic universe in 2620. Star Atlas seems to pull out all the stops in the visual field. It is therefore an AAA (triple A) game. This means as much as an informal classification of a medium or large publisher in the gaming industry. They then have a larger budget to spend on the development and marketing of a game.
Besides being an MMORPG, it is also an RPG (Role Playing Game). In order to participate you will have to choose from one of the three different groups in the game. You also need a spaceship or a space station. These can be purchased from the game’s marketplace and come in all shapes, sizes, and prices.
Below is an image of a Titan Class Spaceship. Perhaps not immediately the cheapest model on offer. It does look spectacular.
You can then manually control these vehicles and participate in battles with them. If you use the cockpit view, you can manually take over the operation of throttles, flight sticks and complex control panels. And all this with great visual aspects. As icing on the cake, you can also use a VR headset . Star Atlas therefore has the next generation of NFTs in house. Besides the fantastic visual aspects of the game, it is also a pleasure to browse their website . Beautiful visual effects are also used here.
Below is a smaller ship, an Opal Jet, XX Small and a ‘Racer’ that has a rarity factor of ‘Often’.
You can also practice all kinds of professions. It is then important to man the right ship with the right crew. This allows you to earn more in-game items that help you further in the game. Occupations to choose from include pilot, miner, CEO, pirate, smuggler, commander, general, mercenary or scientist. There is a long list of other professions that is likely to be expanded. This in turn gives the opportunity to find a place for everyone in the Star Atlas economy.
This includes many elements of the RPG part of the game. These professions are also called the driving force behind the game. You can build a real career by mining in-game resources and processing them into in-game items. You can again find different ways to earn money in the game, but they depend on which profession you choose.
How does Star Atlas work?
Star Atlas works in an interesting way, which I’m going to explain to you here. I have already discussed that you must own a spaceship and that you can do different professions. Time to look a little deeper under the hood of this game.
Before you can start playing this game, you must first go through the onboarding.Buy Solana ‘s SPL Tokens on a crypto exchange . So these are not the usual SOL tokens, but the so-called Solana Program Library (SPL) tokens. You can send these to Solana wallets. For Star Atlas, the Phantom of Math wallets are recommended. They are a kind of MetaMask, but for the Solana blockchain . If you have the SPL tokens on your wallet , you can link this wallet to the game. Now you can buy a spaceship or other in-game NFTs and wait for the game to go live!
Picking a faction in Star Atlas
As a first step, you will need to select a group or faction to join next. By participating in the game and making contributions to your group, you will earn rewards. This improves the gameplay again. The three different groups are:
- The MUD Territory – occupied and controlled by humans.
- The ONI region – occupied by a “consortium of alien races”.
- The USTER sector – under the control of “conscious androids”.
With elements from the grand strategy and RPG game section, you can now start exploring the space and control your territories. You usually have several options in what you can do, and now you can also choose to manage vehicles and fleets of different spaceships. Yet another part of the game is mining activities that you can participate in. As a player you can also play player vs. play environment missions (PVE), take part in a player-versus-player (player vs. player =PVP) battle or join in VR. Then there is special equipment that you can use to participate in a “dynamic career system”.
As a participant you will also have to be very careful with native ATLAS tokens (more about this token later). During the game you have several ongoing costs. Think of costs such as mining, petrol/kerosene or whatever is used in your spaceships, wages for your crew and repairs for your spaceships. All very realistic.
Exploring deep space in Star Atlas
Part of this game is to explore the deep-space space. You can search for celestial and earthly objects. These will be several rare NFTs, which you can then either strike or mine with. You can also sell these items in the Marketplace again.
In this discovery mode, the view of the spaceships is from above. So you see the outside of such a ship. However, there is also an x-ray view. This shows a cross-section of the spaceship and the inside. For example, you can also see the ship’s crew and you can monitor and control the performance of their tasks. With the cockpit or bridge mode you can also steer the ship manually. The next step is to do this in VR.
With the real-time graphics capabilities of this game, you get a first-person experience. You are in the middle of the game or the spaceship as it flies through deep space.
Below you can unfortunately not see a cross-section of a spaceship, but you do get an idea of what is possible in this game.
Burning Objects and Deflation in Star Atlas
This game has different levels of risk that you are willing to take, so-called multi-tiered engagement zones. With these different scenarios, if you take a higher risk, you also get higher rewards. For example, you can participate in battles where you run the risk that if your spaceship is lost, your spaceship will be burned (i.e. destroyed). There is a token burning system that can do this with in-game items. The winner of such a battle also has the opportunity to save items that the loser has left behind and use them again. This is another realistic idea built into the game.
Some spaceships cost as little as $30,000, but there are also ships for sale for $30. The rewards can be high, but there are also risks associated with these missions or scenarios.
If you were to lose the fight in the image below, you could lose quite a few of your in-game possessions.
The Star Atlas roadmap
The roadmap of Star Atlas is important, because the complete game will be released in five steps.
Phase 1 – Galactic Asset Offering (GAO)
In this phase you can buy in-game items from the marketplace in preparation for phase 2. The in-game items can already be traded in the marketplace, which is already open. Items can be purchased on the Ethereum and Solana blockchain. Via the Ethereum – Solana bridge, the Wormhole, you can move items from the Ethereum blockchain.
Phase 2 – Browser Minigame
The game arrived there in November 2021. It is a minimum viable product (MVP) for a browser. This gives you a taste of the real game. You can also buy and use in-game items here in the same way as in the later, full version.
Below you can see the marketplace, as it can be found on the website.
Phase 3 – Shipyard Module Sale
After the second phase is fully functional, the execution of the entire game is built. This is being developed in the Unreal Engine 5, which takes care of the great visual design. At movie quality level! What comes out first is a functional ‘Shipyard Module’. In this mode, you have to choose which faction you want to join for the rest of the game. That also means you have to find the weapons that this faction has to go to, the vehicles, the crew and other items you think you will need. This also includes material to be able to dig with, because that way you can get income.
Phase 4 – Final Beta Presale
When this stage goes live, you will be able to purchase any in-game items that have not yet been sold. They can therefore be used immediately.
Phase 5 – Continuous Sales
When the full game goes live, the team will put new in-game items on the market for purchase. These items will also have new uses for new game ideas and expand the game’s ecosystem.

Who is on the team behind Star Atlas?
The team behind Star Atlas is based in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. The team has a lot of experience and it is a very extensive team. Their website lists, in addition to the four co-founders, another 30 names who only work on the product, artists and so on. There are also 12 names in ‘engineering’, 6 names in ‘revenue ops’ and 3 people are also working in the finance and operations departments. Quite a list!
- Michael Wagner – Co-Founder and CEO.
- Danny Floyd – Co-Founder and CPO.
- Jacob Floyd – Co-Founder and CTO.
- Pablo Quiroga – Co-Founder and CPO.
What are the ATLAS token and the POLIS token?
Star Atlas has two tokens, ATLAS token and the POLIS token. Atlas is used as the in-game currency. Both tokens are tradable on crypto exchanges.
The POLIS token lets you manage the game at different levels. Several layers of management have been added to the game, from local businesses and ‘guilds’ to massive regional DAOs. If you own POLIS, you can participate in the various moods that determine the direction of the game. It’s possible you could eventually outvote the game’s founders.
What makes the POLIS token distinct and unique is that you can gain jurisdiction over territories without having to own the land. You have the right to restrict some gamers from playing in these territories and you can make laws to enforce rules within your region. It really is building its own economy. To set up these rules and laws, you need a majority of votes from a large group of gamers. It’s not like a dictator can control what happens in the game.
Here you can get a good look at the structure of the DAO, and its management.
There are 360 million POLIS and that’s it, unless a vote changes that. Of these, 21,600,000 POLIS are in circulation which is 6%. The market cap in early November 2021 is $193,592,987. Below you can see how the POLIS token is distributed. POLIS will be unlocked through the end of 2029.
The ATLAS token is used in the game as a means of payment. You can earn ATLAS in several ways, such as mining ore and then selling it in the marketplace. Pretty much everything in this game is in the form of an NFT. This means that you actually own the in-game item, but you can also sell it.
There are 36 billion ATLAS minted, but this token can also be burned. There are 2.26 billion of these in circulation and that is 6%. The market cap is $333,863,587.
The percentage distribution of the ATLAS token is exactly the same as the POLIS token in the image above. The release of the ATLAS token also runs until the end of 2029 and can be seen below.
What is the price of the ATLAS token and the POLIS token?
If you want to invest in the ATLAS token and the POLIS token, a good start is to know the price. If you are already going to trade, you also want to make a profit. You can make a technical analysis to see what the best buy or sell moment is.
When ATLAS token was listed on CoinMarketCap, on September 2, 2021 with a price of $0.068, it reached its preliminary ATH for two days with a price of $0.2698. After that, the price also fell again to get a positive impulse again at the beginning of October. It then fell again and rose again at the end of October. At the time of writing, early November 2021, the price is $0.154.
The POLIS token entered CoinMarketCap at $7.6197, also on September 2, 2021. The same day, it made $2. On September 4, POLIS also reached the provisional ATH with a price of $17.99. After that, the price development was the same as with the ATLAS token. At the time of writing, the price is $8.90.
At CoinMarketCap , ATLAS is just between 300 and 200 in place 260 and POLIS can be found in place 326. These coins have good prospects in my opinion. I think they could have a good price development. The metaverse is hot and this game has everything to make it big. Before it goes live, it will be the talk of the town within the crypto and blockchain space. If you want to invest in this coin, it is important to do your own research.

Where can you buy the ATLAS token and the POLIS token?
Unfortunately, the ATLAS token and the POLIS token are not yet for sale on Bitvavo and Binance . The major CEXs that offer this coin are FTX, and Gate.io.
What is the best way to store the ATLAS token and the POLIS token?
You have several options to save this token. The safest way is to store them on a hard wallet , also known as a cold wallet. With a hard wallet, such as the Ledger X or S and the Trezor, you are protected against internet hacks.
You can of course also leave these two tokens on the exchange where you bought them. However, now you do not have access to your private keys. The private keys of an exchange remain in the hands of the exchange itself. The danger of a hacked exchange is always there and then you have a chance that you will lose your coins. These wallets on an exchange are also called hot wallets .
As a third option, you can also use an online wallet such as Phantom or Math wallet. Here is also another chance of an internet hack, but it is theoretically smaller than a hack on a stock exchange.
The following image shows a showroom of a gamer in the game
Star Atlas is building something that sets the bar high in the blockchain gaming industry. They are going to set the beacons for the next few years. It’s good to see how open and clear they are about their tokenomics, there’s a clear roadmap and it’s already a little bit live with the minigame. This is an absolute must for gamers and investors. The game uses not only state-of-the-art visual technology, but also innovative ideas and techniques.
For example, Yield Guild Games has already committed to purchasing $1 million worth of in-game items. Interest in this game is high. If there’s one game that has the potential to lure traditional gamers to blockchain gaming, it’s Star Atlas.
The fact that Solana was chosen also appears to be a good move. Fast transaction processing, cheap costs and many development possibilities with the and for the dApps. It should already be weird if this game doesn’t play a big role. There’s never a guarantee, of course, but it sure looks good for Star Atlas. This also has its effect on the tokens. The course will only get better when the game goes live, and many gamers participate. Definitely something to keep an eye on. If you want to invest in one of the two tokens, do your own research first.
